Using The Subway Calorie Counter To Lose Weight

The sandwich chain ‘Subway’ has been marketing itself in such a way that it is a healthy alternative to fast food.  For this reason the Subway calorie counter is looked upon very highly for anyone wanting to lose weight.  When you order a low fast option from Subway you have a choice between seven 6 inch subs that have 350 or fewer calories and less than 6 grams of fat.

The low calorie sub options include: turkey, ham, ham and turkey, oven roasted chicken breast, veggie delight, turkey club and roast beef.  Then there is the sweet onion teriyaki chicken sub that is just over the calorie count at 370 calories but has just 5 grams of fat, so still a very good choice – and my personal favorite.

One mistake that some people make is that they think all Subway subs are low calorie and that they can order anything they like from the menu.  Not all of the subs are low calorie and there are some you should avoid if you are dieting such as the 6 inch tuna sub that has 530 calories and 31 grams of fat – and that is before you add any sauces or mayonnaise.

Subway also has some hot subs that should also be avoided if you are dieting.  The 6 inch toasted chicken parmesan, the toasted bacon and chicken ranch and the toasted meatball marinara all come in at 500 calories.  The meatball sub has 24 grams of fat.

You also need to keep in mind the size of the sub that you order.  Subway has the 6 inch subs and the foot long subs and the foot long subs are double the size and double the calories of the 6 inch subs.

Something else that you should watch out for on the Subway calorie counter is the double versions of subs.  For example, the double meat turkey sub has 340 calories while the regular version has just 280 calories, so by ordering the double version you are increasing your calorie intake.

With Subway subs you also get to choose the type of bread you want for your sub and this can also make a difference to the number of calories.  The white bread sub has 190 calories by itself but if you choose one of the deluxe breads – honey oat and parmesan oregano – this will increase the calories by 50 – 60 calories.

When you add cheese to the sub it also increases the calories.  Cheese is a standard ingredient on the subs however it is represented separately on the Subway calorie counter and will add another 40 to 50 calories on a 6 inch sub.

Mayonnaise is another big calorie addition and it can add 110 calories for a normal serving while some condiments such as mustard has barely any calories.

If you are having Subway for breakfast you also need to choose wisely.  The breakfast subs range from 270 to 510 calories and you are best to stick to the egg and cheese on a deli roll or perhaps the honey mustard and ham on a deli roll.  You want to stay right away from a sub such as the chipitole steak and cheese on a 6 inch roll as that is on the higher end of the calorie scale.

Subway also sell other foods including cookies, chips and sodas which all come high in calories so although these may be tempting you should avoid them.  Subway does feature the Baked Lays brand of chips which has around 110 calories a serving so they aren’t too bad.

Subway is a great option for those who want a healthy alternative to fast food as long as you use the Subway calorie counter wisely.

Sacred Heart Medical Diet

 
This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds and possibly 17 pounds, and experience an abundance of energy.

SOUP:

  • 1/2 head of cabbage
  • 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 3 plus large green onions
  • 1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
  • 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 cans green beans
  • 2 lbs. Carrots
  • 2 Green Peppers

 

Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender.
 
This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. You may want to fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day.
DRINKS:
  • Unsweetened juices
  • Tea (also herbal)
  • Coffee
  • Cranberry juice
  • Skim milk
  • Water, water, water

 

DAY ONE
Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today. 
DAY TWO
All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Don’t eat any fruits through today. 
DAY THREE
Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds. 
DAY FOUR
Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs. Proteins and calcium to lessen the cravings for sweets. 
DAY FIVE
Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today. 
DAY SIX
Beef and veggies, eat to your heart’s content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today. 
DAY SEVEN
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish. 
By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again.
 
This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol.
 
Due to the variety of digestive systems in individuals, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don’t need caffeine after the third day.
The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.
Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically.

Walking Is More Than Just A Great Exercise

One of the first things that I did (motivated by my wife) was to begin walking.  Brenda and I went to the Pensacola State College walking tracking, which is 440 yards, and just began to walk leisurely.  I weighted 250+ when I started my walking program so I didn’t walk too far at first.  In fact, I only did 4 laps or a mile.  But I consistently built myself up walking more and more each week.  This has been a really tremendous help to me.

Why is walking more than just a great exercise?

First, anyone can do it!  You don’t need to be rich to go walking or have to purchase a gym membership.  You just have to get started.  That is why my wife motivated me because at first I didn’t want to go.

Secondly, you don’t need any special equipment.  You just need to wear comfortable clothes and a pair of good sneakers!  If you have money, you can go out and buy yourself a jogging suit and a pair of Nikes, but you don’t have to!

Thirdly, the health benefits are tremendous.  Walking may not burn as many calories as running, but it is less brutal to your body.  Believe me, you feet and knees will thank you that you didn’t go out for an all out sprint.  Even though it may not burn as many calories as running, it does help to speed up your body metabolism, which will burn off more unwanted calories.

Finally, walking will give you an opportunity to get some fresh air helping your respiratory and circulatory systems!

Now put on those sneakers and start walking.

Another second benefit of drinking water is that drinking water will slash hidden calories from your daily caloric intake.  Dr. Stork also said in Womans World that if the average American would only substitute water for sugary drinks, he will cut off 450 calories per day from his diet.  Just performing this one task alone will help you to lose almost one pound in one week!

The third and final benefit of drinking water that I want to discuss today is that drinking ice water will help boost your metabolism.  The simple science behind this is that the body must heat the water up to body temperature to use the water, boosting your metabolism by 25% for sixty minutes, which helps you to burn calories!    Research from German scientists support this fact.

How much water should you drink?
There is conflicting information on this questionDr. Stork in the aforementioned Woman World article says that you should drink a minimum of six glasses of 8 oz. of water and certain particular times.

Upon rising 8 oz. of water
Mid-morning 8 oz. of water
Before lunch 8 oz. of water
Mid-afternoon 8 oz. of water
Before dinner 8 oz. of water
At 8 PM 8 oz. of water

I have also read other doctors who have said that you should drink one ounce of water for every two pounds that you weigh.  For example, a person such as myself who weighs 224 lbs. will need to drink 112 oz. of water, which is 1 pint of water short of a gallon.  The point that I am trying to make is the importance of drinking water to lose weight.  This is the easiest secret that you should try to incorporate into your weight loss plan.
